SIMSC - Becoming A Member

Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best working to help other women to be their best.

Currently our club meets the first three Tuesday’s from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from September thru June. We gather for lunch at 11:45 a.m. Currently our lunch location is at the Top of the Cliff. Come early order your lunch. Your first two visits/meals you are considered a guest of the club.

· First Tuesday - business meeting. We discuss club projects, requests for support and funding from community projects, and other important actions.

· Second Tuesday - program meeting, usually with a guest speaker.

· Third Tuesday - “Fun and Fundraising” Committee Meeting where members meet to work on projects, fundraisers, as well as have a fun event.

We look forward to community members becoming a part of our organization. Some of the responsibilities we ask of our members is to regularly attend meetings, stay current in paying dues, participate in our fundraisers – Architectural Tour and Wine Tasting, Lobster Sale, and more, and serve on a club committee: Service or Technical (In house work).

The Service Committee’s focus is Economic and Social Development, Health/Environment, Human Rights/Status of Women, International Goodwill and Understanding, and Education/Scholarship. The Technical Committee’s focus is Membership, Finance and Bylaws, and Public Relations.

A member’s annual national dues are $109 per year, July 1 to June 30, Current monthly club dues are $5 a month.
